If you have plenty of time, we can help you gain access to Savings Programs designed specifically for building a nest egg for that college education, such as 529 plans or the Coverdell Savings Account. When you need money now: First, and foremost, your child should maximize all scholarships and grants. The more "free" money your child can get to help pay for school, the better. Call FCU offers Scholarships for its members. Second, your child should maximize federal loans (Stafford and Perkins) as they offer low interest rates and flexible repayment options. Unfortunately, for most families, these options may not be enough to pay for your child's entire tuition and other educational expenses.
